It’s that time again, Spring is here, the dog walks are getting longer, the pollen is building and those pesky ticks and friends are all getting busy! We are all so excited about the weather improving but it does also bring other issues to light for those Yellow Dog’s and their owners and how they cope with these walks and desires for free running in spring fields. As much as you may long for letting your dog off lead, if they are anxious in any way or recovering from an op, always best to keep them on an extension lead.

Yellow Dog UK™ BioThane training leadThe Yellow Dog BioThane 5 Metre Long Lead is great, nice and soft so will not hurt your hand and is both weatherproof and mould resistant and just perfect for when you want your dog to have some freedom but you still have control if needed. This can be quite a life changer for many dog owners, whether in the park, fields, beach or country parks you can be happy knowing you have control of your dog and when you need to shorten your lead so your dog does not interact with other dogs you can easily and quickly do this whilst the yellow lead alerting others that your dog needs space, as there’s may too.

Spring can also bring that yearly dose of hayfever to many of us and this can affect our dogs too. So keep an eye open for extra itching, scratching and rolling. A good shower down after a long field walk to clear the pollen would help alleviate these issues for your dog and help rid the pollen gathered on a walk. Pay attention to their paws, even a little wipe with a damp cloth can just take the pollen off their paws which can help, as this pollen can really irritate and cause extra paw licking. We also need to be aware of the increase of ticks, potentially picked up in grassy and woodland walks. Read More Here…

All this extra activity may also mean your dog is wanting more to eat, so make sure they have good quality foods and snacks to support this extra spring energy. Why not try some pieces of raw carrot or apple rather than the shop bought treats?

We all love spring, so let’s help our dogs love it too!
