Good and responsible dog ownership
You have a duty of care towards your pet
You should exercise you dog every day – your dog needs daily exercise for their health and well-being
You must take responsibility for your dog’s health – give you dog healthy food and plenty of water, try to keep your dog at a healthy weight. Register your dog with a vet and take it for regular check-ups
It is your responsibility to train your dog – the yellow ribbon can be an aide to help your dog succeed and help your training progress but you should teach your dog basic commands, train and practice as much as possible and make it fun!
It is your responsibility to socialise your dog. Expose your dog to different people, settings and animals – the more your dog learns of the world, the more comfortable he will be in it
Do not leave your dog alone for long periods of time, your dog needs love and companionship
It is your responsibility to make sure your dog wears a collar and ID tag when outside of your home environment
It is your responsibility to clean up after your dog – ensure you dispose of your dog’s waste in the proper manner
Remember, you are responsible for your dog’s actions, with or without the yellow ribbon/bandana
